A Case Study on the Dynamics of Phytoplankton Blooms Caused by Tropical Cyclones in the Southeastern Arabian Sea

A phytoplankton bloom was observed in the southeastern Arabian Sea after passage of anti-S-type track Tropical cyclone ARB 06 1998, which lasted for 22 days. The dynamic mechanism investigated with high-resolution satellite remote sensing data, reanalysis data and buoy data. results show that double thermocline structure hindered uplift deep nutrients to surface before tropical arrival. During cyclone, shallower disappeared, deeper changed from 45.7 m 76.5 m, mixed layer deepened, upper oceanic stratification weakened. Additionally, a weak ocean eddy pair enhanced gradually cyclone. relative vorticity calculated.
